Korean romantic drama Beethoven Virus is not as popular as other romantic dramas probably it is due to this drama has a very tight relationship with classical music which is thought to be strict and serious.
However, thanks to this drama I get to know that that the first piece that I had learned to play during my childhood time is "Beethoven 9th Symphony-Ode to Joy" since the tune in the chorus portion is very easy:
"mi mi fa so, so fa mi re, do do re mi, mi re re, mi mi fa so, so fa mi re, do do re mi, re do do"
With the main character Kang ma-ae, conducting this piece 9th Symphony in the drama I would say it is more beautiful than perfect. How he had lead his whole orchestra from the stage to the wide opening field is fascinating. I would say Kim Myeon-min does play this role very well.
This drama is all about a bunch of common folks; the policeman trumpet player; a poor flute student; a cellist housewife; each of them has their own story but how they have overcome the obstacles in order to stand on stage is really a miracle.
The effort of the leading actress Ru-mi tried to fight her own deafness in order to stay in the orchestra is really heart-warming and the love affair between her and Ma-ae who is also the conductor in the orchestra is hilarious as well. Ma-ae who is strict and sensitive and Ru-mi who is active and optimistic such an opposite characters between the two is really in-compatible on the outside but deep down they are the soul mate of this drama.
On the other hand, Gun-woo who likes Ru-mi also create quite a scene of how a conductor should behave on stage. His method of conducting which is very different from Ma-ae is very lively, you will feel like you are really in the audience when you watch him perform.
This is a romantic drama which ones would have thought to be bored but once you watch it, this drama will get deep rooted into your heart besides you also gets to know more about orchestra, Beethoven and Mozart on how the thoughts and feelings of these great artist of all time when they produce the famous pieces of their music.
This drama is well recommended to watch and the playing orchestra is an adder to this drama.
